Manly P. HallManly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 - August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, which is widely regarded as his magnum opus, and which he published at the age of 25 (or 27, 1928)

He has been widely recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism, and the occult.

Carl Jung, when writing Psychology and Alchemy, borrowed material from Hall’s private collection.

In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in Los Angeles, California, dedicating it to an idealistic approach to the solution of human problems. The PRS claims to be non-sectarian and entirely free from educational, political, or ecclesiastical control, and the Society’s programs stress the need for the integration of philosophy, religion, and science into one system of instruction. The PRS Library, a public facility devoted to source materials in obscure fields, has many rare and scarce items now impossible to obtain elsewhere.

In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33ยบ Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8th, despite never being initiated into the physical craft.

In his over 70-year career, Hall delivered approximately 8,000 lectures in the United States and abroad, authored over 150 books and essays, and wrote countless magazine articles.

I read the Sectet Teachings of All Ages and have purchased a few more books by Mr. Hall. I really love the insight and in my personal search for universal truths he is amongst the top of my list. I have even purchased a copy for my neice. I share his insights with certain friends.
I just wanted you to know how great of a man I think he “is”. i look forward to many years of research into his materials and hopefully be able to come by the PRS if possible. I am a strict believer of “in order to understand God you must have equal parts math, science, art/beauty and religions. Thank you for your continued efforts to enhance the understanding of man and his surroundings. Be blessed

hi, everybody. Help me to spread Manly Hall’s work throughout the world. I’ like to translate his lectures into Bulgarian and Russian. To be honest verry few people know Manly Hall in Europe. I need his lectures to translate them. If anybody can send them to me, he will make a greate deed. But I don not need audio because it hard to translate from audio. I need texts.

    Hi Jennie,
I think most people should become familiar with our teacher’s work. The way he presents his lectures is both modern and true. My e-mail is sidhart@abv.bg. I am waiting to see mail from you!

I was introduced to Manly P. Hall through the video Riddles in Stone. Though the video didnt outright say that this man was evil or bad, I was left with that impression.

Since seeing that video, I had begun to study Hermetic philosophy and seeing another reference to MPH, I decided to look into who this man is and what he has done.

I now know different than my first impression. Manly P. Hall was a great man, and had done much good for the world. I am starting my reading of his Secret Teachings of All Ages and look forward to the knowledge he has shared with us all.

    Thank you Mr. Hall.

    Hi There -

Maybe you can help me - I’ve recently put together a spiritually themed film, and in one scene, one of the characters holds a copy of “The Secret Teachings of All Ages and we have included one or two quick shots of the interior of the book.

It is a low budget film and may never get distribution, but if it does, we will need to seek permission from the estate in order to keep those shots in the film. Can you direct me to whom I might seek permission from?

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

hi all- i run the MPH myspace page- wanted to let you all know about the MPH biography coming out in late May! ‘MASTER OF THE MYSTERIES: the life of Manly Palmer Hall’ by Louis Sahagun. on Process Media, inc. i’ve got more stuff about it at the site, including an amazing cover photo of MPH! hope the book is accurate to ‘the work’…

Jonathan, If the book is a recent publishing, you should contact the publishers. The contact information is in the inside cover. You may also want to contact Mitch Horowitz who is the one responsible for recently republishing the book. You can also reshoot the take with an old copy of the book if a mock version of one and not worry about copyright infringement.
